Question:What is term spamming? What does Ultraseek's spam threshold do? Spam Threshold Answer
Ultraseek includes an automatic spam detection algorithm. The indexer decides that a document is spamming a certain word if that word occurs more often than a certain number of times within a range of 100 words. If it decides that a document is spamming the word, it punishes the document by giving it a very low relevance for the word. In the word spam detection thresholds section, you can specify the threshold of how many word occurrences there needs to be for Ultraseek to decide that a document is spamming a word. You can set separate word occurrence values for the body, title, description, keywords, or image alt text sections. The remote anchors section is text within HTML anchors linked to this document but found in documents on other web sites. You can change the default Ultraseek settings within the Ultraseek admin interface under the tab "Collection" --> "Tuning". For each threshold, the minimum value is 1, and the maximum is 100. If you want to disable spam detection, enter the value 100. |
